The month of August was witness to a great variety of games played at the club, including the conclusion of the current Necromunda campaign, and the beginning a slow-grow Conquest league.
With the final games of the planned Necromunda campaign played out earlier in the month, all five players came together again for a final all-in battle. The two top gangs, Van Saar and Delaque, teamed up and were tasked with breaking into a spaceport hanger and hijacking a transport shuttle (Blaze of Glory: Escape the Hive). In their way stood the other three gangs of the campaign, Escher, Goliath, and Orlock. This was the largest game of Necromunda we had played, with 20+ gangers on each side. Unfortunately, after almost 3 hours of play we had to end the game without a solid outcome. We called the game a win for the defenders since the attackers only had a handful of gangers anywhere near the transport.
Our Slow Paint-And-Play Conquest league kicked off in August. This league is aimed at beginners and long time players painting a new army, but is open to anyone. We currently have 6 players involved, starting with 750 point battles now and slowly building up to 1500 point battles by December.
Alpha Strike also saw a lot of play in August as we prepare to host our first ever Alpha Strike tournament in September.
As usual, there were plenty of other games played this month including Frostgrave, Space Gitz, Glory is Fleeting, and Warhammer 40K.
