November 2024 Recap

Towards the end of any year a lot of our members start to focus on the games that they intent on playing at the CanCon gaming convention in Canberra on the Australia Day long weekend in January. As a result, November saw a less diversified list of games being played.

We kicked off November with a mini DBA tournament. It was an open tournament, any army from any book allowed, with six players playing through three rounds.

Warmaster has seen a lot of enthusiasm during October, and November was no different. What’s most interesting is that I don’t think I have seen any two players field the same type of army, which has given all those involved a good spread of armies to practice against.

As usual for this entire year, Classic BattleTech and Alpha Strike continued seeing lots of play this month, including some new players trying both games out for the first time.

Conquest was another game that saw regular play this month as our slow-grow campaign marches its way to the Conquest tournament at Cancon 2025.

Other games played this month included Kill Team and Glory Is Fleeting.

Crudboy's initiation into war gaming was with Battletech way back in high school, where he spent more time creating 'mechs with his friends, and not nearly enough time actually playing the game. Since then, Crudboy has dabbled in so many different tabletop games that he no longer remembers which rule goes with which game. His latest loves include, but aren't confined to, Frostgrave, Gloomhaven, and Gaslands.
